production challenges

While the music production was a fun learning experience for us there were certainly some challenges that we had to face.
We faced a video equipment issue. Our major challenge was getting a good camera. We wanted to rent out a good quality professional camera but due to the peak season of weddings it was quite expensive to rent one out as we had already spent a lot on lighting. Both of us group members did not have any latest phones, Fajar had and I had an Iphone 7 plus but both of our phones couldn't handle the bright lighting that we would be working with. Thus, we had to request a friend for his iPhone 12 Pro for a day.
Figuring out the lighting, it's placement that it didn't look too dim or too harsh and turning the lights on and off at the right time was one of the biggest challenge. We were new to coloured lighting and it took us alot of time and thinking to figure out such a way that lights could be monitored during the camera was rolling to get least possible cuts. We needed different lights which were a bit expensive but we managed to arrange all of the lights that we needed for our music video shoot.
Also, as we were shooting in college we had to face a lot of disturbance by students as everyone was curious to know what was going on inside the music room. As the song was playing on the speaker and there was coloured lighting we faced alot of interruptions which delayed the production process and our model was really tired till the end takes. We did not want our actor to look tired and unappealing to the audience so we had to give her breaks in between the retakes that we were doing. We could not use the music room further than 3 pm which meant that we had to finish all the shooting and pack up before 3, this created alot of hassle for me and Fajar in the end while we were packing up and clearing the area.
We had never operated a smoke machine before and figured it out on the same day that we got it. Due to the time limitations of the college we were in a hurry and upon leaving while picking up the smoke machine I got my hand burnt as it was still hot. Also, we faced some sparks from the lights too as we had multiple extensions and some switches were loose etc.
Overall, during the production process of our music video there were quite a lot of challenges that we had to face but we kept our cool and figured things out together as a team which gave us a great learning experience and got us more exciting for our future projects as we got to know the potential that we had within us
