There have been different theorists who have researched music videos and recognized common conventions in terms of theory aspects behind a music video.
Few of the theorists are Andrew Goodwin, Pete Fraser Etc
Andrew Goodwin believed that a music video's graphics and illustration should complement the music and beat. There are five fundamental features of music videos, according to Goodwin which include Genre conventions,narrative-based, notions of looking, a visual matchup with lyrics, and music along with star representation.

Pete Fraser:
Fraser believes that pop music is often insufficient to derive a strong response from the audience on its own, Fraser believes that the added value generated by the appearance of CD covers, live shows, and music videos can be enough to encourage the users to purchase into the romantic myth of it all as well as the music. According to Fraser, we need to look out for the five things which include thought beats, performance, narrative, stars image, and technical aspects of the music video.
