mock shoot

Before, doing the final shoot it was necessary for us to do a mock shoot so we have a learning experience and our final shoot is easy and hassle free for us. The first thing that we did was to arrange all the props, lighting and equipment. We reached school at 8 and the first step was to cover the windows of our location with black chart papers. The next thing that we did was to clear out the room and move the chairs, tables etc to the other side. For one of the shots we needed a foil curtain backdrop that we attached to one of the windows. Me and Fajar had brought extensions to easily set up the lights and we started to set up the lights according to what we had in mind. We placed the plants outside the door and couldn't arrange the white cloth due to which the first shot did not come out that good. The main light that we needed was a red one, Fajar applied red cellophane sheet on a warm led light, set up the smoke machine, the RGB lights etc. I did the cinematography, Fajar gave all the directions and handled the lighting and smoke machine. We wanted to do the video in minimum cuts but that was not possible as we had just 2 extensions and could not attach all the lights at once. Due to this, we had 4 cuts in our video as we changed the lighting and then began the next shot. Overall, doing a mock shoot was really necessary for us as we got to experience the whole process and knew what things we lacked and how to make improvements for our final shoot. We realised that we needed a big white cloth, along with 3-4 extensions to get minimum possible cuts.
