location recce

Finding the right environment was really essential for our music video. We wanted to find a place that was easy to access, looks great and simple to get to. We wanted to find a location that's either free or cheap thus decided to look around in college and were lucky enough to find our ideal location.For the location we did not need something fancy as we were bound to create the ambiance ourselves through lighting and setups thus we needed an area or room which was spacious and had no furniture as our actor had to move all around the area. We also, wanted our location to be easily accessible to us for 7-8 hours as we had to experiment with different lightings and one of our main concern was a place which had switchboards for the different lights and smoke machine. We had 2 options in mind which were both available in college as we could stay in college from 8 am till 3 pm and with permission we could manage staying till 4 as well. One was our music room and one was the media lab.

The media lab has really less exposure of natural light which was one of our requirements but it had tables all around with computers and chairs, also there were classes to be conducted there due to which we ended up leaving the idea of having the music room as our location.

The music room was the best option for us, as it had walls that were different from each other and were creative plus beautiful with a few chairs and a single table which we could move as per our own convenience to create space. We could easily spend the day working as music classes didnot happen on a daily basis and the room was mostly free. Although, the music room had 2 huge windows thus alot of natural light which we didnot need and decided to cover the windows up later. This was the best option for us and we decided to finalise it as the location for our music video.
