history and evolution of music videos

Music videos actually started up with short musical videos which first came around 1920s and they got better recognization in the 1980s when MTV launched their channel and created a medium for us. so now the people could also watch the music. The music videos came into existence when MTV was launched. The first video which was broadcasted on the MTV was the Buggles " video killed the radio star''. At first, there weren't many music videos because people weren't aware of them but gradually people got aware and the trend of music videos started through MTV. Even before MTV was made there were many attempts on music videos and they also played their part in making the term MUSIC VIDEO.

There was an American singer Tony Bennet who says that he invented the music videos in around 1953 when the launch of his song STRANGER IN PARADISE, while many believe that original inventors of music videos were the musical short films, musical sheets which started in around 1890s and late 1950s.

In 1980s and 1990s the musicians use to earn through selling their albums. their sales dropped in the around early 1990s and then mtvs main focus was on reality shows and not on music shows. The major boost for the music videos was when an American company introduced a website where you can share your videos in 2005 known as Youtube. and now musicians even earn through youtube once their music channel is monetized.

As time changed the music videos got better and better due to better equipments like camera, lights, softwares etc.
